		<description>@Russell - Thanks for the comments.  I tend to agree with you about rolling your own. I always like to know exactly what is going on and using code created by others tends to cause headaches unless you really look and follow how everything ties together. 

I have also heard of a few people integrating Zend Auth into CodeIgniter. I didn&#039;t add that to the list but I would think that would be a very powerful add on.</description>

		<description>I generally roll my own auth system but have used freakauth in the past. I would probably not use freakauth again as I couldn&#039;t integrate it quickly enough into the app I was building. It was probably a bad choice for the particular situation and should have gone with something more lightweight. Perhaps next time I will try The Auth Library as per your recommendation. As always with these things it is a case of horses for courses! :)</description>
