I know I haven’t made any posts lately but the past month I have been working on a new home office. Since I now have one kid and another due any day we are running out of room fast. I would have never imagined how much extra STUFF comes with a kid.
Originally I had planned to do a full room addition to the house but with out any construction knowledge and running into the same type of things as Boyink did I decided it was just to much hassle.
What I did was shopped around for a pre-made utility building and had them put a wall dividing it into two sections. The original building was one 14×28 room and now I have two 14×14 rooms. One side was turned into an office and the other will be used for storage.
The building itself came delivered on a flat bed truck with just the core structure. We then put up sheet rock, had it wired, painted, insulated, and added all the finishing touches. I have learned a great deal from this project and probably the biggest one is I am not cut out for this type of work. I am glad I work on a computer!
So far I have started out 2010 working from here and it is great to have a separate office outside the house. Now I can work in piece and don’t have to get ready and go to our official office. Unless of course I really want to.
Here are a few images of the “almost” finished product:

Now I am just waiting for a new iMac to arrive and for spring to put up the underpinning. WooHoo!
