snowski bbPress Theme

I am happy to release my newest theme for bbPress. It is named snowski for really no reason other than a unique recommendation from Mohit Kumar.

This theme features a nice clean look and includes a jQuery slider for login and registration.

Only tested with bbPress v1.0.2

Instructions

Download the latest zip file and extract it to your computer. Next upload the “snowski” folder to your “my-templates” folder. Then visit admin and activate it.

If you want to change the text on the left column of the slider please edit the intro.php file.

  • Eric, I've got another question. What would I need to do to make the Human Test plugin show up in the scroll down registration/login menu?
  • Honestly I have no idea. I have never used that plugin so I am not sure what all would be involved.
  • Ok, would there be a way to make the log in / register link redirect to a log in / register page that is similar to the default bbPress theme's page?
  • Eric! I absolutely love this theme, great job on it! I do have a couple of questions though.

Would it be possible, and if so what do I need to edit, to move the Forums above the Latest Discussions?

Also, if I want to add something to the sidebar, what do I need to edit?

    Thanks!
  • You can move the forums above by editing the front-page.php file. Look for:
    if ( bb_forums() ) :
    code....
    endif;

That is the whole forum section to move.

The sidebar content is found in "footer.php". You can edit it using a text editor.

Very clean theme and thanks for answering all my questions already :-) I've been looking everywhere for that right sidebar section. I would never think it'd be in footer.php. Thank you very much Eric I'll post my forum as soon as i'm done customizing it
  • Thank you for your help Eric!
  • v1.0.1 of this theme has just been released to fix the jQuery conflict issue. You can download it from above.
  • Love the theme, but is there any way I can keep the sliding effect once logged in? I would love for it to be similar to the one for WordPress. Once logged in, maybe add the admin button inside, and also include the intro.php?
  • Sure anything is possible. I would imagine you could do this by editing the header template file. Currently I am to busy to be able to consider making any changes like this.

HI, I like your theme very much but is there a way where I can a left sidebar easily?
  • The theme uses the 960 grid framework http://960.gs so you can add sidebars or change the size by using their system. I would recommend visiting their site and reading how it is done.

The theme is just awesome. Though I believe there is a problem with the slider when using bb-lighbox2 ( http://bbpress.org/plugins/topic/bb-lightbox2/ ). With the plugin activated the slider won't open.
  • Hi,

Can you try the code I just posted here:

  • I totally dig this theme, it's really nice. However when I upload it to my website it doesn't show correctly. So I tried uploading it into the folder "bb-templates" and now it works. Just thought I would let you know. ( http://www.funeralofhearts.com/bbpress )
  • Glad you like it. I wonder if you are using an older of bbpress? I think the my-templates folder wasn't added until the recent release or v1.0.x.
  • Scheme looks and works fantastic :) Everything i need was small css change for better show section use code/pre snippets.
  • Thanks for the comment and glad you like the theme.

    Hi Eric!

It is a great skin. However, I have one question regarding how I can control the look of the posts in the front-page.

I can see that the class is

either: or only which affects how each row is presented on the most recent topics. But I can not find this in the style.css file. It drives me nuts... :)

Also where forums is presented I get the and alt at the end. But where is it controlled how they look like?

    Regards,

    Chris
  • Hi Chris,

I am very sorry but I think part of your comment got striped out or something. I am not understanding what you are after.
